Sealed Air Corporation Invents A New Packaging Foam
Instapak FlowRite™ Foam Allows More Time for Product Placement
DANBURY, Conn. (Oct. 14, 2003) - The introduction of Instapak FlowRite™ foam reinforces Sealed Air’s commitment to new, innovative packaging solutions for current and prospective customers. The Instapak FlowRite™ foam has unique characteristics allowing for a multitude of applications and is dispensed using the SpeedyPacker® foam-in-bag or the Instapacker™ Tabletop foam-in-bag packaging systems.
Instapak FlowRite™ foam remains in a liquid-foam state for 10 seconds to 15 seconds as compared to 3 seconds for most other Instapak® foam formulations. Another distinctive feature of the new foam is the amount of time it takes to rise or expand. While Sealed Air’s existing family of high performance Instapak® foam packaging fully expands in 20 seconds to 30 seconds, Instapak FlowRite™ foam fully expands in 45 seconds to 60 seconds.
Because the foam takes longer to rise, the user has more time to position multiple bags, allowing them to be placed into shallow compartments and narrow cross-sections. The foam bags can cushion and protect products using less space which permits reduced carton sizes, leading to savings in material costs and storage space.
The SpeedyPacker® system and Instapacker™ Tabletop system can produce Instapak FlowRite™ foam on demand. The SpeedyPacker® system can be placed online and one system can serve multiple conveyor lines. The Instapacker™ Tabletop system has a smaller footprint and is excellent for packaging areas where space is at a premium.
Instapak FlowRite™ foam can be used to package a variety of products including acoustic equipment, aerospace and automotive parts, picture frames and ready-to-assemble furniture.
