Cryovac® Automation Systems and Film Showcased at 2004 International Cheese Technology Exposition

DUNCAN, S.C. (April 21, 2004) - The Cryovac Food Packaging Division of Sealed Air Corporation will showcase its automation systems for improved cheese packaging in addition to the latest in film technologies at the 2004 International Cheese Technology Exposition. These technologies will be displayed at Booth # 415 in the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis. from April 21 to April 22, 2004.

On display in the automation section of the Cryovac booth will be the Cryovac® BL-110, a fully automatic bag loader developed to load Italian cheese into Cryovac® taped bags. The system is equipped with a high-speed belt that accelerates cheese into opened bags at speeds up to 35 cycles per minute. The bags are automatically advanced and opened, which enables processors to reduce handling. The BL-110 can load rectangular and round cheese, such as mozzarella and provolone, into bags ranging from 8 and one-half inches to 11 and one-half inches wide and from 18 inches to 30 inches long. The system includes a bag rack and indexer that pulls out for quick and easy bag changeover.

Also highlighted in the Cryovac booth will be Cryovac® HFP 1000 film for horizontal form-fill-seal cheese applications. Designed for packaging retail cuts of cheese, the film is very clear, giving consumers a good view of products. HFP 1000 film is a 2.6 mil laminated structure that provides greater footage per roll than the typical rollstock. With more footage per roll, processors benefit from fewer roll changeovers, resulting in heightened productivity. Another version of HFP 1000, the Cryovac® HFP 1050 film is available for gassing cheese.

In addition to viewing the automation system and film technology, Cryovac booth visitors can browse a vertical deli case and see various cheese packaging formats for retail cuts and bulk foodservice applications.
