Position Summary
The SAC Medical Flexibles business strategy calls for growth at a rate of 15-20% per year (including acquisitions) while generating an operating income margin of 15%. The Product Manager will serve in a leadership and project management capacity to facilitate the timely and successful implementation of the “internal elements” of the business strategy. The Product Manager is the key interface between sales, marketing and the internal functions of T&I, Supply Chain, Finance and other service groups.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management – work with sales/marketing to identify market needs, lead the financial evaluation of identified market needs/opportunities and prioritize across markets and medical product lines to optimize return to the whole business while also managing risk;
- Project Leadership – serve in a leadership role to manage T&I, Supply Chain and other strategic priority projects
- Financial Oversight – act as a Business Manager for the Medical Flexibles portfolio (the Pharmasol, Barrier Medical Film, and Medical Device Flexibles product lines) in conjunction with representatives from the Finance function, to review and analyze financial trends in the relevant market segments. Work proactively with other functional areas to identify and implement programs to improve the profitability of the portfolio, e.g. cost reduction initiatives, inventory management, quality improvement, product portfolio rationalization, pricing recommendations, etc.
- Regulatory Oversight – ensure that SAC is aware of and compliant with all relevant medical regulatory requirements. Develop appropriate external relationships in the regulatory area to ensure awareness of and potential participation in the development of new regulatory requirements.
- Outsourcing – serve as the primary point of contact with outsource vendors, leading communication of needs as well as joint implementation efforts to meet customer requirements. This role will be critical to ensure that the outsourcing is essentially invisible to our customers and that outsourced products meet the same standards and deliver the same high level of satisfaction as internally produced materials.
- Capacity – work closely with Sales, Supply Chain and Finance to justify and request capacity needed to support forecast business growth. This responsibility will also entail interaction with Supply Chain relative to service aspects of the portfolio including lead-times, quality, stock inventory, etc.
Experience
5+ years experience in a Product Management, Sales and/or Technical role with a demonstrated track record of positive business results and increased responsibility over time.
- Strong business judgment and proven success in managing complex, cross-functional projects with challenging technical requirements is a must. Previous experience in shepherding products through the complete innovation and development cycle to successful commercialization is very desirable.
- Experience identifying operational efficiencies & new development opportunities and preparing the business cases to justify investment
- Prior experience in flexible packaging, film extrusion, base materials and resins and/or packaging machinery is very desirable
- Prior experience in the medical/pharmaceutical packaging markets is a significant plus.
- Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, both internally and externally
Education
- BS degree in Business, Engineering or related technical field.
- MBA would be a plus.

Working Conditions
- Light to moderate travel (10-15%) is required.
- This position is based in Duncan, South Carolina with travel required to critical customer, supplier and SAC locations in the U.S. and globally, particularly Europe and Asia.
