Specialty Materials Technical Leader |

Responsibilities
Partners with the Specialty Materials leadership team to drive the BU strategic plan.
- Establishes a business innovation portfolio. Accountable for the implementation of portfolio tools in the business; responsible, in the near term, for vetting and agreeing the appropriate portfolio tools with business leadership team and also other business unit technical leaders (BUTLs).
- Accountable for business technology roadmap and business unit (BU) intellectual property strategy
- Responsible for BU Innovation resource plans and deliverables
- Responsible for T&I budget allocations to the business in agreement with BU Leader and Global Technology Platform Leader. Responsible for ensuring that robust value propositions are in place for all critical programs.
- Accountable for ensuring the right skill sets to deliver product support and incremental product development for the business
- Accountable for managing functional interfaces with T&I (e.g., E,A&I, Global Platform Leadership, etc) to achieve business innovation and product support goals
- Provides technical input to M&A due diligence sponsored by BU
- Tracks and utilizes knowledge of competitive activities (e.g., in portfolio/roadmap decisions) Accountable for BU competitive intelligence relevant to SAC’s innovation or technology development programs
- Responsible for collaborating with other BUTLs to ensure consistency in communication across the BUs
- Maintains a safe and incident-free working environment
Requirements
- Proven product development track record, with experience in developing products for new markets.
- Technical background (degree preferred) in engineering or materials science.
- Proven people and project management skills
- Ability to motivate teams in a challenging environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills- influencing, motivating, negotiating
- Able to make difficult decisions, give clear priority/focus and provide difficult feedback up and down the chain of command
- Strong business and acumen. Experience in liaison role with sales/marketing, production, vendors and external customers.
- Ability to identify and ensure adoption of critical enabling technologies to support business strategy
- Able to work globally. Experience with remote or dispersed teams
