Our History of Innovation
Since our products have always begun as someone else's need, we have developed a passion for innovative thinking balanced with disciplined scientific inquiry. This combination has led to many breakthroughs that we've included in the following timeline.

In response to continued demand for convenience and efficiency, Sealed Air’s Cryovac brand has introduced several new innovations for retail and foodservice applications since 2010.
In 2010, Oven Ease® packaging was introduced, giving consumers a simple prep, unattended cooking solution through this ovenable bag. For foodservice, Flavour Mark™ aseptic pouches were created to offer chefs a shelf-stable product that eliminates the need for cold storage.
In 2011, three new products were released: Freshness Plus® odor scavenging films, Multi-Seal® FoldLOK recloseable packaging, and QuickRip™ bags with knifeless, easy open feature.

Consumers in the 21st century desire convenience and simplicity in meal preparation.
To respond to this need, we developed the Cryovac® Simple Steps® package in 2001.
This revolutionary heat-and-serve package not only makes preparation easy, but also
safer than other heat-and-serve packages.
Developed in 2005, the Cryovac® 8600S rotary chamber vacuum machine tackles sanitation
concerns of processors in the ready-to-eat market. Designed according to American
Meat Institute (AMI) and National Sanitation Federation guidelines, the Cryovac®
8600S rotary chamber vacuum machine has all the benefits and proven reliability
of the industry standard 8600 rotary vacuum chamber machines with improved functionality
and a more hygienic design.

Continuing to raise the standard for packaging fresh poultry parts, we introduced
SES film in the mid-1990s. It provides a package that uses less film and boasts
superior leak resistance, which gives supermarkets greater opportunity to offer
consumers a dry package at the point of sale
Strengthening our presence in the food industry, we created flexible pouch packaging
used for a variety of pumpable and pourable food products for the food service industry.
It is an easy to use, easy to ship, affordable alternative to metal cans and other
rigid containers.

In the 1980s we continued to create cutting edge flexible packaging. In 1983, Cook-in
bags were introduced, which enabled meats and poultry to be shipped in the same
package in which they are cooked. This eliminated secondary packaging and repackaging.
Cryovac® TBG boneguard bag was also introduced in the 1980s. This innovative material
has boneguard protection built directly into the bag structure. It eliminates the
extra step of applying boneguard cloth prior to vacuum packaging bone-in meat cuts
such as ribs. New and more value added members of the TBG family have followed in
the 1990s as we developed clear boneguard patch material.
In 1987 the first oxygen and aroma barrier shrink film, Cryovac® BDF, was produced.
This product serves as an effective barrier in preventing transfer of aromas and
flavors among products distributed, warehoused or displayed together.

8600 Curved Seal Rotary Vacuum Machine
Expanding on our presence in the poultry business, we introduced Cryovac® Super
L Bag in the late 1960s. This bag was the first multi-layered shrink bag for turkeys.
It provided a tighter, smoother package that increased consumer appeal, and its
toughness helped it survive abuses during shipping and handling.
In 1970, we pioneered the concept of flexible packaging systems for fresh foods,
creating the first high-strength oxygen-barrier bags. These bags are used for vacuum
packaging perishables along with extending the distribution and merchandising life
of meats, poultry, cheeses, and many other foods.
